Thurrock LINk were pleased to have the opportunity to sponsor the latest "World on a Plate" lunch at the Beehive. The roast beef dinner was excellently - if reluctantly - prepared by our vegetarian Project Manager, Kim O'Connell, and enjoyed by all. Your Thurrock recorded an interview with Vice-Chair, Mike Riley, during the event, which can be found on their website at http://www.yourthurrock.com/2009/11/27/thurrock-link/
We are looking to recruit members of the community to become Authorised LINk Enter & View Representatives. This means that you will be able to enter certain health and social care premises, such as hospitals, care homes and doctors surgeries.
The aim of these visits is to view the care provided, and report on the findings (both good and areas for improvement) to the service providers and commissioners of services.
The 'Change One Thing' campaign is being launched as a way of getting feedback from local people as to how they want to see local services improved.
Thurrock LINk is interested to hear your views on Social and Health Care locally, and from that form some workplans to bring about change.
So the question is, quite simply, what would you change if you could....
Change One Thing?
The Government has prepared a Green Paper on the future of care, which is open for consultation still. Meetings will be held in Thurrock for local residents and service users to join the debate:
To book, or for further details call Kerry White on 01375 652492
The final meeting of the Steering Group will take place immediately prior to the Public Meeting at The Beehive, from 4pm on 14 September.
For the past nine months governance structures and working plans have been developed by an interim Steering Group, under the guidance of an interim Chair (Gordon Gambier) and Vice Chair (Richard Price).
We will be holding a public meeting on 14 September, open to all Thurrock residents, at which we will be appointing a new Chair and Vice-Chair, and inviting offers of involvement from other local residents who may wish to take on a role within the new Management Committee or Focus groups. There are currently just one nomination for both the Chair and Vice-Chair position.
