Thurrock LINk has identified an opportunity to appoint an Outreach Worker on a short-term contract to assist the Project Manager and Management Committee in further promoting the LINk and local health and social care issues.
From the end of March, any patient - wherever they live - will be able to see a GP or nurse seven days a week, between 8am and 8pm at our new GP service in Grays.
The service will accept new patient registrations and will also have appointments available all day every day for patients who aren't registered at the practice. Anyone, whether they are a registered patient or not, will be able to walk-in and wait to see a GP or nurse without an appointment.
Young women aged from 12 up to 18 are being offered the HPV vaccination to help protect them against cervical cancer.
Drop-in sessions are being held in south west Essex so that young women eligible for the immunisation can pop in without making an appointment and have the injection.
If you would like to take part in this important work, and want to add your voice and ideas to this agenda please contact the Thurrock LINk
to be held in the Training Room at The Beehive
You may well have seen or heard Basildon Hospital in the news, sadly not for the best of reasons. If not, you can catch the story here at the BBc news website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8382036.stm
Thurrock LINk, together with our colleagues at Essex and Southend LINk hope to get some more information about this and wil share it as soon as we are able. In the meantime you are, as always, welcome to contact us with any further iformation or concerns.
UPDATE... MARCH 2010
As part of our "Change One Thing" campaign we have been made aware of access issues for wheelchair users at a recently-opened surgery in Tilbury. Thurrock LINk are in contact with the Surgery, NHS SouthWest Essex, and Thurrock Council, and hope to be anle to announce a resolution to the issue in the very near future.
A full report is currently being produced, and we will be asking Thurrock COuncil to install two dropped kerbs on the road outside the surgery to enable wheelchair users safe access to the facilities as a matter of urgency.
